This post is long over due. Last weekend we had the opportunity to go home to california. It was an incredible weekend filled with a homecoming, a wedding, a family get together and meeting my brother-in-law. All thee things went great and it was so much fun. And yet, this weekend was a series of unfortunate events mixed with pure happiness. let me recap the many unfortunate events.
1. The flight to California. Joe (new brother in law) becky (momma ford) and Mickey (sister in law) were all flying home from France and their connecting flight was in SLC so Ryan, Melissa, Mark, Ashton, Ryker and I got tickets for their connecting flight. Very convenient right? Our flight was set for 4:50 pm. So we arrived and began to board the plane at 410. They told us there was some white powder in the Luggage cabinet but not to worry about it. 3 hours later, firemen in hazard suits are coming on the plane... turns out that white powder was something to worry about. The plane was thoroughly searched and cleaned. 10 hours later, we finally re-boarded the plane and find out that the mysterious substance that delayed out trip was salt. Instead of arriving in California at 5:50 pm, we arrived around 3 am. Great start.
Good news: got some quality time with my Ford family and had fun chilling at the airport for 10 hours. Ok.. it was not fun but it was entertaining.
2. The next morning we woke up and got ready for the wedding. Brittany and Dave Jarman! We were running late to get to the wedding. Ryan was a groomsman so we were kind of rushing.. and we got pulled over.
good news: we got out of the ticket and we got to drive Momma Ford's pretty car =)
The reception was gorgeous and it was so much fun. Plus the boys did a lovely dance. How I love my man.
Watch this.. its hilarious
3. On Sunday, nothing unfortunate happened. I learned how to make crepes, I got to hang out with family, developed a new catering company ( not really, just a fun daydream of the Ford sisters) and hung out with friends.
4. Monday, we flew home. When we finally got to our car, we realized that the keys to the car were somehow not with us. I am ashamed to admit, I had packed everything. I had forgotten to pack out car keys. We called the Ford household and they confirmed that our keys were sitting in the bathroom. shoot.
good news: Mr. Ford had a car at the airport and had a hide a key on the tire. Thank goodness! Everything worked out.
This weekend was a great weekend but it was exhausting. I came home and needed a vacation from my vacation. So many wonderful memories were created and it was so good to see everyone. It made me realize that perspective is everything. This weekend was definitely a series of unfortunate events. The Universe was against us but the Lord was with us. He gave us those sweet tender mercies that allowed us to go to California, be there for a beautiful wedding and be apart of an awesome homecoming. The Lord blessed us with a great weekend.
